Freddie Wayne Phifer, 89, of Quitman, TX passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025 at his home with his wife Linda and son Michael by his side. Freddie was born on December 31, 1935 in Clarksville, TX. He went to Deport High School.

Freddie is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ruth (Compton) Phifer; sisters Margie Smithson, Virginia McMikel, Imogene Sanford; brother Jim Phifer; and son Freddie W. Phifer Jr. (JR).

Freddie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda; son Michael; daughter Debra Carlson of Fairfield; grandchildren Jonathan Phifer and wife Caroline of Fairfield; LaCosta Meikle and husband Justin of Huntsville; Amber Rodgers and husband Jeffrey of Fairfield; Matthew Carlson and wife Hailey of Fairfield; great-grandchildren Caleigh, Kiera, Colten, Kenna, Aubrey, Addison, Maisie, Charlette, Dylan; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, January 24, 2026 in the Live Oak Ballroom at the Mineola Civic Center, 1150 N. Newsom St. in Mineola, TX.
